Investment in Redevelopment
In October 2020, Bathurst Thoroughbred Racing (BTR) was successful in receiving NSW State Government (COVID) Funding of $3.7m (ex-GST) as anchor funding for strategic Club developments over the next three years. Bathurst Regional Council will also contribute to infrastructure work. All funding will be used for water storage (dams), sewerage, fencing, reconstructing the course, new stabling and yards in a new location, and horse walking machines and treadmills. Racing NSW will be pivotal in decision-making via direct representation on the Steering Committee and the guidance of their expert staff members across all facets of the redevelopment.
The funding and associated development works are game-changing and transformational for the Club. The project will help the Club realise its dreams and aspirations of becoming a showpiece and prominent NSW country racing facility. The new facilitates will not only improve and grow the interests of participants in the racing industry but the Club and its activities will also become a more significant social, business and financial footprint on the region.
The funding from Crown Lands is aimed at stimulating the local economy. Therefore, the project will involve local businesses and create employment opportunities (including employment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people).
The achievements of the desired outcomes of the project will be the main focus of the Club over the next three years
